Lungworm

We have received news from Novartis, the manufacturers of Milbemax worming tablets that they have now been licensed to treat lungworm, if used monthly. If you are concerned about lungworm, all you need to do provide total protect for your pet is to give them a Milbemax tablet once a month. The dog tablets are available in tablet or chewy form, and the cat tablets are flavoured.

Canine lungworm, Angiostrongylus vasorum and feline lungworm,  Aelurostrongylus abstrusus, are parasites that are carried by slugs and snails and dog become infected when they eat them, or when rummage through undergrowth and/or drinking from outside puddles and bowls. The adult of the dog lungworm lives in the heart and major blood vessels, the common cat one lives in the lung air spaces, and if left untreated can be fatal.
